The details that matter
Privacy Policy
Read the journal with a clear understanding of the information involved in your visit.

Scope and site identity
This policy applies to the public information website Velqandarim at velqandarim.com. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean the publisher of this website. We are independent of the bars, event organisers and support services mentioned in our articles. Their privacy policies apply when you use their services.
The website is designed for adults aged 18 and over and provides editorial information about Australian bar culture. It does not provide user accounts, newsletter subscriptions, comment sections, booking forms, payment facilities, gambling accounts or identity-document uploads.
Information involved in a visit
Technical delivery information
When a browser requests a page or image, the hosting and network infrastructure processes connection information needed to send the response. This can include an IP address, request date and time, requested URL, response status and browser or device information sent in request headers. A referring page may also be included, depending on your browser settings and the referring site’s policy.
Such information may appear in operational or security logs maintained by the hosting provider. We do not use site scripts to build profiles from your browsing behaviour or run advertising measurement. This policy does not promise that infrastructure logs do not exist.
Your age declaration
If you select “I am 18 or older”, a single value is stored in session storage in your browser tab. We do not ask for your birth date, name, address or identification. The value is not sent by our code to a server and does not identify you to us.
Information you choose to send elsewhere
Calling a venue, opening a map or contacting a support service is a separate interaction with that organisation. We do not receive a copy of your booking, support conversation or payment simply because you followed a link from this guide.
How information is used
The website uses browser requests to deliver pages and assets, and session storage to avoid repeating the age prompt in the same tab. Infrastructure providers may process technical data to route traffic, investigate errors, maintain availability and detect abuse.
We do not sell personal information, run targeted advertisements, make automated eligibility or credit decisions, or combine the age declaration with a marketing database. We do not use analytics pixels, fingerprinting scripts, session-recording tools or embedded social feeds on these public pages.
Storage, retention and security
The age declaration remains in the browser tab’s session and can be removed with the control on our Cookie Policy page. Browsers may preserve session data when restoring a previous browsing session. The site does not intentionally keep a server-side copy of this declaration.
Operational data held by hosting or network providers follows their service configuration and retention practices. No fixed retention period for infrastructure logs is represented here. Retention may be affected by incident investigation or applicable legal obligations. A local browser-storage reset cannot remove a hosting provider’s server logs.
The public site requests no financial or identity information and loads its interface assets from the same origin. HTTPS protects information in transit when the site is served over a secure connection. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; do not put sensitive details in a URL or send documents to a venue contact when your concern is about this publication.
External websites
Links to venue websites, Google Maps, Transport for NSW and support organisations take you to services operated by others. Those services can collect information under their own policies. Links are not embedded maps, advertising widgets or social-media feeds.
External links use a no-referrer relationship where implemented, so the destination is not sent this page’s address by the link. Your browser still makes a direct request to the destination, which can receive normal connection information. We cannot control another organisation’s retention, security or cookies.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can read the policy and support pages without confirming your age. You can decline the age check, clear the local confirmation, restrict storage through your browser or choose not to follow external links. The site does not provide marketing subscriptions to opt out of.
Where Australian privacy law applies, access, correction and complaint rights may be available in relation to personal information held about you. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) explains these rights and when they apply. This policy does not assert that every website is covered by every provision of the Privacy Act.
To clear information stored by this website in your tab, use browser storage settings. An age-confirmation value cannot be searched by your name because the site does not attach a name to it. Avoid sending unnecessary identification when seeking help about browser storage.
Privacy enquiries and changes
For general information about Australian privacy rights and complaints, consult the OAIC privacy complaints guidance. The OAIC is an independent regulator, not the operator of Velqandarim. Venue staff and gambling support organisations cannot answer on behalf of this publication about its infrastructure.
This policy is reviewed when the website’s information practices change. The updated version will appear on this page with a revised date. If features involving accounts, forms or optional tracking are added, the relevant disclosure and controls must be updated to reflect those features before they are used.
